Greetings
Astronomers and Friends, February 17, 2010
For the year 2010, Carlsbad
Caverns National Park will be developing and
hosting six “Star Party/Celebrations of the Night” events. We had them
this past summer and they were a great success.
We would like to invite local astronomers, star gazers, or night sky
admirers to join us, participate, bring a telescope, or just post the
events on your club calendars. Please contact me of your potential
interest and how we might be able to assist you in attending or partnering
with us for these future events.
The events are on Saturdays and are as follows; June 12th, July 10th,
August 14th, September 11th, October 9th, and possibly a forthcoming event
in November. Additionally, we will be developing a Full Moon Program March
27th.
Feel free to pass this information to club members and the local
community.
Sincerely,
Kevin R. B. Mohr

Hello
Everyone:
Ms. Denise Williams of the
Village of Corona,NM Library Board asks members of the New Mexico
Astronomy email list for help in hosting a star party at Corona
School on April 22, 2010
in conjunction with other Earth
Day activities. Alan Hale will talk to the 82 children at the
school. Corona is southeast of Mountainair, New Mexico. Corona means
crown in Spanish. Does anyone want to have a mini-vacation in Corona,
NM? Several of the Corona Library volunteers have guest rooms and/or
casitas, and would be delighted to extend hospitality to a limited
number of astronomers should they decide they'd want to help host a star
party on April 22. In addition, there is a motel and a bed and
breakfast inn in Corona.
Please contact Ms. Williams if you are interested in helping. Denise's
email address and phone number are
dawquilts@gmail.com and 505-573-8230. Any help you can offer is
greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Melissa Kirk
