State Parks is pleased to co-sponsor
the 1st
Annual Southwest Night Sky Conference in Taos, NM, during
September 13-15, 2007. The Night Sky Program of the New Mexico
Heritage Preservation Alliance (NMHPA) and the El Valle
Astronomers will host a public star party on the field adjacent
to the Taos Town Hall. The public is invited beginning at 8:00
PM for a night under the stars and viewing through telescopes at
the Moon and other celestial delights.

MEXICO DARK SKY APPRECIATION NIGHT.”
New Mexico Governor Bill
Richardson has proclaimed a special night of
observation under New Mexico’s pristine night skies for
Friday, September 14th, 2007.
The proclamation recognizes the uniqueness of New Mexico’s
night sky and encourages citizens as well as visitors to
turn off artificial lights, go outside and enjoy the
blessings of an unspoiled night sky.
Governor Richardson states that
“all New
Mexicans deserve the right to gaze upward and enjoy the
heritage of a pristine, unspoiled sky, unchanged through the
length of human history.”
